Proposed changes for NCC 2019 are now available for public review and comment. Consultation RIS’s assessing significant changes proposed for NCC 2019 are also available for review and comment.

What are the proposed changes?

NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft

The Public Comment Draft provides an opportunity to review and provide feedback on proposed changes for the next edition of the Code, NCC 2019. The key elements of the proposed changes contained in the Public Comment Draft are available in the Resource Library for download. Topics covered in the draft include improved fire safety, increased energy efficiency for commercial buildings, new plumbing compliance pathways, improved readability and new performance metrics just to name a few. This edition of Connect also provides more information on key changes.

Regulatory Impact Analysis

Consultation Regulation Impact Statements (RIS’) for accessible adult change facilities in public buildings, fire safety in mid-rise apartments and hotels, heating and cooling load limits in residential buildings and energy efficiency of commercial buildings are also open for review and comment.

How do I provide comments?

If you have feedback on any of the proposed changes, now is the time to submit your comments. For the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft, a response sheet is available from the Resource Library and can be submitted using the submission form.

Response sheets for each Consultation RIS are also available from the Resource Library and include questions about items we’re seeking specific feedback on.

The consultation period closed Friday, 13 April for all items except energy efficiency of commercial buildings. Comments for energy efficiency of commercial buildings closed Friday, 20 April 2018. Thank you for your feedback.
