CEO Update
It’s been a few months since my last update – I’ll start off with an update on the public comment draft for NCC 2025. Consultation closed on 1 July 2024. A big thank you to those individuals and organisations who submitted feedback. Our team has been busy working through all comments.
A final draft with proposed changes has been reviewed by our technical committees and will now go to the Board and Building Ministers for final approval later this year.
Make sure you are registered for ABCB announcements or our newsletter to receive updates.
ABCB Forums
Thank you to those who attended our ABCB Forum in Sydney back in July. I was joined by Board Chair, Glenys Beauchamp, and we shared updates on the ABCB business plan and covered topics like resilience, modular and prefab buildings and embodied carbon.
Canberra forum | 26 November
Our final forum for the year will take place on 26 November in Canberra. Registrations are now open.
This is an in-person event only.
New Prefabricated, modular and offsite construction handbook
Back in March, Building Ministers asked us to work with industry to find ways to facilitate increased use of prefabricated and modular construction to help support and increase the supply of new housing.
In collaboration with Building 4.0 CRC, our team has developed a handbook that provides guidance on how to use prefabricated, modular and associated modern methods of construction technologies safely, sustainably and in compliance with the NCC.
It will be released very soon and will be available in our resource library.
NCC Online
Now is a really good time to familiarise yourself with NCC online as we have introduced enhanced search functions to help you find content relevant to you and your work. You can read about the enhancements and how to make the most of them in our article.
