Fire Safety Verification Method webinar series - What's next?

The webinars were individually tailored for different practitioner groups including building surveyors, architects and building designers, fire safety engineers, and fire protection practitioners. Over 640 people attended online.

The FSVM webinars were developed in response to industry feedback after the first FSVM Awareness webinar delivered by the ABCB in August 2019. These webinars had a more technical focus on the FSVM than the first webinar and included a lengthy Q&A discussion between participants and panellists, which included representatives from Fire Protection Association of Australia, Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) and the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS).

The ABCB has provided a certificate of attendance to registered participants who may be able to apply for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points from their industry association.

The ABCB will publish the webinars on the ABCB YouTube channel closer to the FSVM adoption date, 1 May 2020.

Following the webinar, the ABCB released a public survey to seek views on what else the ABCB can do to improve education and awareness needs about the FSVM. If you are interested in the feedback from this survey, check back in mid-2020 when the ABCB will publish the related ‘We Asked, You Said, We Did’ statement through our Consultation Hub.

The ABCB has also been working to develop new supporting materials to assist practitioners to understand the purpose of the FSVM and how to use it. A Frequently Asked Questions information sheet is now available. An additional video to provide an overview of the FSVM and how the process works is also in development for release later this year.
