The NCC Online has recently been updated.

-

So we're going to show you how to navigate through the site and find some of the main features.

-

Here you'll see toolbars to help you select the edition and/or application you're looking for.

You can also search the NCC from here.

-

There's also a number of helpful tabs linking to information and an easy link back to the ABCB website.

But first things first, you need to login or register to access the NCC Online.

Including viewing and downloading.

If this is the first time you're accessing the NCC Online, you'll need to register.

-

Now we're in, you'll see there's two different options to access the NCC, download and view.

-

The download option provides a printable PDF version, where the view option gives you access to the NCC Online and all it's features.

-

This is what you'll see once you're in the NCC Online.

-

Many features you don't get from a printed copy.

-

They're focused on helping with navigation and readability.

Here's a list of some of the main features we will be talking about.

Let's start with changing between volumes.

-

To change volumes, use the quick access button at the top of the page, and click on the volume you need.

-

When changing between volumes you'll also notice the banners and headings change color to match the volume you're in.

The table of contents is a very important tool for NCC Online.

Located on the left hand side, it's the easiest way to find what you're looking for.

It aims to get you to the content you're after in two clicks.

-

You can also pin it or minimise it by selecting the three dots to give you more space to view the NCC.

Within the table of contents, you can easily choose to highlight the governing and/or performance requirements by ticking the box.

Sections of the NCC with those requirements are highlighted, this makes accessing the mandatory performance requirements easier than ever.

-

The search bar is found in the table of contents.

Using the search bar when in a volume, means you can find the parts, sections and schedules in the NCC containing the keyword entered.

The results are displayed as you type.

-

For example, let's search states and territories.

-

As you see, the table of contents highlights the sections containing this text.

-

The second function of the search bar allows you to search for keywords across all NCC volumes.

Let's type in services and hit the search all volumes' button.

-

As you can see this search gives many results.

This can also be further refined through filtering by volume.

-

You'll see that modals are used extensively in the NCC Online, for linking to definitions, cross-volume references, state and territory variations, resources, explanatory information, and for volume one, the guide.

So what's a modal?

Put simply it's a pop-up window.

-

It's designed to give you relevant information without losing your place in the code.

-

They can also be printed using the print feature.

Now let's head to volume one to find some resources related to the NCC.

-

On the right, you'll see the resources panel, this is home to the guide to volume one when accessing NCC volume one and links to related ABCB resources across the NCC. -

The guide to volume one is easily accessed by clicking on the link directly next to the clause it's explaining.

-

When the link is clicked, the content appears in a modal.

ABCB resources are also linked in the resources panel. -

For instance, the performance requirement BP1.4 has the ABCB standard for construction of buildings in flood hazard areas linked, and when clicked, displays in a modal. -

If you decide that a particular section of the NCC is one of your most frequently visited sections, you can add it to your favorites. -

This is done by clicking the Favourites button at the top, next to your profile button.

The Add button will simply add the current NCC section to your drop down list. -

When creating the NCC Online, we couldn't pass up the chance to make it functional on handheld devices.

-

Now the displayed content adapts to your screen, so you can easily access the NCC on all your devices, at work, onsite, or on the go.

This brings us to the end of navigating the NCC Online and its features.

-

Don't forget to bookmark the ABCB website, so you can easily access the NCC Online whenever you need it.
