The proposed changes for plumbing in NCC 2019, including new APPs, are now available for public review and comment through the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft released on 8 February 2018.

What is it all about?

Currently the Performance Requirements of the PCA are predominantly met, if using a Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) Solution, using the referenced documents in the AS/NZS 3500 series of Australian/New Zealand Standards. An additional DTS Solution is being proposed in NCC 2019 in the form of acceptable plumbing practices (APPs).

The current referenced documents will be retained as a DTS Solution, to be known as acceptable plumbing manuals (APMs). APPs do not replace the current APMs; they just offer a simplified DTS Solution option to the referenced documents for meeting the relevant Performance Requirements.

So what’s proposed?

Four new APPs have been developed and included in Sections B and C of the PCA in the NCC 2019. They cover cold water services, heated water services, sanitary plumbing systems and sanitary drainage systems. These APPs can be used for detached Class 1 or Class 10 buildings.

How do I provide comments on the NCC 2019 Public Comment Draft?

The consultation period closed Friday, 13 April 2018. Thank you for your feedback.
