Looking back at the 2018 NCC Information Seminars

ABCB presenter and resident fire safety engineer, Ray Loveridge, hit the road throughout February and March to present the 2018 NCC Information Seminars in all capital cities across the country.

As foreshadowed in a previous edition of Connect, key topics for the first part of the seminars included NCC 2016 Volume One, Amendment 1, an update on the NCC 2019 Public Comment draft and several other contemporary regulatory building matters.

The second part of each Seminar was dedicated to ‘How to Develop a Performance Solution’, with Ray working through a case study on a warehouse, based on the ABCB’s ‘Development of Performance Solutions Guidance Document’. The case study involved a comprehensive application of the guidance document, including preparing a brief, conducting analysis, evaluating results and developing a final report. Finally, representatives from each building control administration provided an insight into the administration of Performance Solutions in their respective jurisdiction.

Further guidance on the use and development of Performance Solutions had been requested by practitioners recently and feedback from delegates following the Seminars indicates that the session was invaluable.

For those unable to attend the Seminars in person, the ABCB is producing a webcast. To view the webcast visit the Resource Library in the coming weeks. Additionally, a PDF version of the Seminar PowerPoint presentation is available and can be download from the Resource Library.

A separate webcast on plumbing is being produced and will also be available from the Resource Library in the coming weeks.
