Seminar series: External Wall Systems in Focus
AIBS is presenting technical seminars about compliance pathways relevant to construction of external walls. They are delivered as part of a series in partnership with various product manufacturers. Participants are eligible for CPD points and will be introduced to key contacts that can provide expert technical assistance in the field and with assessment of novel applications.
The series will commence with a NCC provisions component presented in conjunction with a supplier. This will be followed by a range of supplier only seminars. Over the year, participants across the country will have the opportunity to access the most current information available for the external wall system product market.
Over recent years there have been prominent examples of façade failures in many countries as well as increasing numbers of reported issues in the Australian market. AIBS is monitoring these developments. Knowing there are a large number of distinct external wall systems available for use in the Australian market, and with increasing globalisation of the Australian market, we expect more systems available via importation and local innovation.
Already, external wall systems available in Australia are quite unique in their approach to compliance. These compliance points can often be critical to the safety of building occupants or the integrity of buildings. There is now, more than ever a distinct need for Building Surveyors to have a comprehensive understanding of the relevant compliance pathways which facilitate the use of all products and systems in external walls.
You can find out more or register for any of these sessions on the AIBS website.
AIBS Conferences: Delivering Performance Workshops
AIBS is delighted to announce the ABCB has entered into a co-operative arrangement with AIBS to introduce “AIBS/ABCB Performance Workshops” at each of the AIBS 2017 state chapter conferences.
The new format
The format starts with a professional presentation on performance assessment techniques and processes. Each conference will focus on performance assessment related to Indoor Air Quality and Existing Buildings. Delegates will explore performance solution issues through a series of scenario based exercises undertaken within small groups. The scenarios give participants exposure to the information gathering and decision making processes applicable to the topic, resulting in a first-hand understanding of the issues arising from the topic.
