ABCB Business Plan
The 2010-11 Business Plan places a strong emphasis on the ABCB’s core function – maintaining and updating the BCA by exercising a gatekeeper role in response to calls for regulation. A relevant and contemporary building code, achieved through rigorous assessment of emerging issues and ongoing review of existing provisions, is a critical contributor to an efficient building and construction industry, a safer built environment and a strong national economy.The strengthened Inter-government Agreement (IGA), executed in 2006 in response to a Productivity Commission review, demands increased transparency and greater accountability of ABCB processes. The principles of the IGA, including increased impact assessment, reduced reliance on regulation, and the reduction of variations to the BCA have been incorporated into the Business Plan.
