ABCB Protocols for Energy Rating or Analysis Software

The BCA energy efficiency provisions include a number of software based approaches that can be used to demonstrate compliance with BCA. These approaches reference the following ABCB Protocols which energy rating or analysis software must comply with:

  • Protocol for House Energy Rating Software Version 2006.1. This relates to “second generation” software and is used for class 1, 2 and 4 buildings and certain class 10 buildings.
  • Protocol for Building Energy Analysis Software Version 2006.1. This is used for specific class 3, 5, 6, 8 and 9 buildings.
