Procedures and Guidance

In June 2017 the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme was published in preparation for the progressive implementation of the improved Scheme from 1 August 2017.

It is important to note the existing Scheme Rules, procedures and guidance, remain current in whole or in part until progressive implementation of the improved Scheme has been completed.

Procedures and guidance

The following documents outline the improved WaterMark Certification Scheme procedures and provide guidance for the evaluation, certification and authorisation of plumbing and drainage products.

Trade Mark Rules

The Trade Mark Rules approved by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, govern the use of the WaterMark trade mark. The Trade Mark Rules are located at Appendix 1 of the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

Approved Certifier Agreement and Approved User Agreement

The Approved Certifier Agreement is a formal agreement between the Scheme Owner and an Approved Certifier which authorises the Approved Certifier to grant licences to Approved Users for the use of the WaterMark trade mark. The Approved User Agreement is a formal agreement between the Approved Certifier and the Approved User granting permission for the use of the WaterMark trade mark. Both agreements are located at Appendix 2 of the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

Protocol for the Assessment of Risks of Plumbing Products

The Protocol for the Assessment of Risks of Plumbing Products provides those involved in the process of risk management of plumbing and drainage products in a plumbing and drainage installation, in or around buildings, that are potentially within the scope of the Scheme, with a systematic approach to the identification and assessment of risks and a methodology for identifying critical features to be addressed in the product specification. The Protocol for the Assessment of Risks of Plumbing Products is located at Appendix 3 of the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

Protocol for Developing Product Specifications

The Protocol for Developing Product Specifications provides writers of product specifications for plumbing and drainage products with guidance and specific requirements. The Protocol for Developing Product Specifications is located at Appendix 4 of the Manual for the WaterMark Certification Scheme.

WaterMark Product Specification Template

WaterMark Product Specification Template is an electronic template for the drafting of product specifications. The template must be used for drafting new or amended WaterMark Technical Specifications published by the ABCB and may be used for drafting new or amended product specifications published by a third party.

Deed of Assignment and Licence of Intellectual Property

Deed of Assignment and Licence of Intellectual Property provides confirmation to the ABCB that Intellectual Property rights within a WaterMark Technical Specification to be published by the ABCB are assigned to the ABCB. Contributor(s) to content within a WaterMark Technical Specification must complete this Deed and provide it to the ABCB for execution.
