NCC 2016 Volume One Amendment 1 is scheduled for adoption by all States and Territories from 12 March 2018.

ABCB supporting materials

Aside from the Evidence of Suitability Handbook, all ABCB supporting materials requiring changes to reflect the amendment will be progressively released after the preview is available. This also includes an update to the Fire Performance of External Walls and Cladding Advisory Note (2016-3) and changes to the Guide to NCC Volume One and Consolidated Performance Requirements.

Background

This amendment is the result of a Building Ministers’ direction to the ABCB to expedite completing and adopting actions involving changes to the NCC from a comprehensive package of measures for fire safety in high rise buildings developed following the Lacrosse Apartments fire in Melbourne.

The ABCB sought feedback on a draft version of the proposed amendment to NCC 2016 Volume One in August/September 2017. Submissions received were considered and resulted in some changes, which will feature in the preview of the Amendment.

Further details on the Amendment will also be provided at the ABCB’s NCC Information Seminars scheduled for February/March 2018.
