Regulation Reduction

Over time with changing technology, construction techniques and community expectations, some of the NCC provisions have become redundant or unnecessary.  The ABCB is currently undertaking an initiative with the aim of reducing the level of regulation in the NCC. This initiative is part of our Regulatory Reform agenda and aims to increase the productivity and competitiveness of Australian industry through reducing the cost of building and plumbing solutions in meeting the goals of the NCC without compromising health and safety.

The Initiative is also consistent with the ABCB’s Inter-Governmental Agreement objective of ensuring the NCC provisions are the minimum necessary to efficiently achieve the relevant safety, health, amenity and sustainability objectives of the ABCB.

The ABCB operates under an Inter-Governmental Agreement between the nine Governments.
